What Jens Hjerto-Dahl has said on exit as Rangers and Cardiff battle nears conclusion

Rangers appear to be close to finding out whether they or Cardiff City have won the battle for Jens Hjerto-Dahl.

The Gers had a bid rejected for exciting midfielder Hjerto-Dahl earlier this month.

Cardiff have since come in with a better offer, reported to be around £7.8million, but that has yet to be accepted or rejected.

Tromso are said to want even more than that for a player who has fewer than 100 senior games to his name - and none outside Norway.

Ibrox News has reported that Hjerto-Dahl is still a possible target for Rangers, despite the signing of Vanja Dragojevic.

And it appears Rangers are about to find out one way or another about Hjerto-Dahl's next move after the player spoke out on his future.

Jens Hjerto-Dahl appears to hint at Tromso exit

Hjerto-Dahl has continued to play for Tromso amid the intense speculation over his future.

The Norway Under-20 international started Thursday evening's Europa Conference League qualifier against Czechia outfit Hradec Kralove.

However, he missed a penalty as his side were on the end of a potentially damaging 1-0 home defeat.

Hjerto-Dahl spoke to Nordlys after the game and hinted he could be off imminently.

"If this was my last game, I hope I have done other things that people will remember," he said.

"Hopefully I have done other things that will stay with me and others. Today it was a bad penalty, but that happens."

Hjerto-Dahl also told iTromso when asked about his future: "No comment. If something happens, you'll get all the information you want, but right now the focus is on [Tromso]."

Cardiff appear to be the frontrunners given they have tabled a better offer, but Rangers may still have some hope.

The fact Cardiff's offer has been sitting on the table for a few days now says a lot.

For his part, Hjerto-Dahl wants to see what other opportunities arise.

Reading between the lines, it sounds as though the midfielder - who is inspired by Paul Pogba, Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets - wants Rangers.

The only way that is going to happen is if the Gers up their initial bid.

If that is to happen, it needs to be done now or else they will miss out on this hugely exciting talent.
