Vanja Dragojevic to Rangers: How Partizan now feel about exit as McInnes rebuild continues
Rangers' pursuit of Vanja Dragojevic could pick up steam again soon.
The Gers are looking to bolster their midfield quite heavily this transfer window.
So far, Cammy Devlin and Dan Neil have already been confirmed as summer signings.
However, the pursuit of Dragojevic is still ongoing, despite the arrival of Devlin.
Now, reports out of Serbia have shared the latest feeling around the club over his departure.
And Rangers' transfer for Dragojevic could now begin to pick up momentum.
Why Partizan are already preparing for life without Vanja Dragojevic
Business at Ibrox has been busy so far, with the Bears bringing in six new faces for next season.
Derek McInnes has certainly been handed a strong transfer mandate as the Gers look to push for the Scottish Premiership title.
Work is far from over as Dragojevic is still a player on the radar at Ibrox. And that could be moving swiftly to a conclusion.
According to Serbian outlet Mozzart Sport, FK Partizan are "convinced" that the transfer for Dragojevic will happen.
The Belgrade-based outfit is already preparing for life after their captain, as defensive midfielder Timothy Ouma is on the "threshold" of joining Partizan.
Ouma is said to be an "ideal" replacement for the Rangers-linked midfielder, but the Black and Whites need the sale to go through before they can proceed in that deal.
As things stand, there is still a slight difference in valuation between Rangers and Dragojevic's side.
Partizan want €1million (£852,000) on top of the Gers' original offer of €4.5m (£3.8m).
Where would Dragojevic fit in at Rangers?
Rangers currently have plenty of midfielders at the club, so the question of where Dragojevic would fit will likely arise.
However, Rangers have yet to begin the trimming of their squad heading into the season.
With Neil, Devlin, Nicolas Raskin, Tochi Chukwuani and Connor Barron currently contracted at Ibrox, it would not be a surprise to see a few be shipped off.
Raskin is the obvious contender amid links to the Premier League, Serie A and La Liga.
However, Barron has also been linked with Bologna, and his departure could make way for space in the squad.
Either way, as Rangers still maintain interest in Dragojevic, should he arrive before any exits are made in central midfield, the Gers would be way too overstocked.
Six defensive midfielders would simply be overkill for McInnes' squad, even with European fixtures.
