Rangers can sign Vaclav Cerny for £8.5million this summer, Ibrox News understands.

The Czech winger has been consistently linked with a return to Glasgow ever since his initial loan spell ended.

Spending the 2024/25 season at Ibrox, Cerny would become somewhat of a hero figure for his actions on and off the pitch.

Now at Besiktas in Turkiye, the attacker scored 18 and assisted a further nine in his season in Govan.

Whispers around his potential return under Derek McInnes have not disappeared, though.

And after the latest from Turkiye, it may be on the table again.

Besiktas rift revealed around Vaclav Cerny

Ibrox News previously reported that Rangers had submitted a £5.1m bid to sign Cerny.

It's become very clear since that it will take more than that.

Cerny enjoyed a fruitful first year with Besiktas, scoring seven and assisting a further eight goals in his 34 appearances.

But, that still may not be enough to stick around.

Ibrox News has learned from sources in Turkiye that £8.5m would be enough to get a permanent deal done.

That's despite learning that Besiktas head coach, Vincenzo Italiano, likes Cerny and doesn't want him to be sold.

Either way, that rift between management and boardroom could open the door for Rangers to swoop again.

Why Vaclav Cerny used Celtic to become Rangers hero

Back in March 2025, the winger left Parkhead absolutely raging.

If it wasn't enough that Hamza Igamane scored a last-gasp winner in a 3-2 victory, the benches got involved too.

Cerny celebrated the late winner by running along the touchline and spraying Celtic fans, something that forced Police Scotland to intervene.

It left the home crowd seething, but those in blue were in nothing but hysterics at the action of the then-Wolfsburg loanee.

There was talk of a permanent move following his loan, but then came the dreaded spell of Russell Martin, which reset any hope.

Now, McInnes is in charge and plans on getting Rangers back to the top, and Cerny could just be the man to help with that.
