Kosta Nedeljkovic has been officially announced by Rangers.

The Serbian full-back marks the 11th signing of the summer for the Bears as they continue to improve their squad.

Work is not yet done, with wide forwards and a replacement for the injured Youssef Chermiti still expected to be signed this summer.

Getting a new right-back over the line was a priority for the Derek McInnes, who himself personally held talks with Nedeljkovic.

However, with a fierce battle for Nedeljkovic including interest from Celtic, the manager had some extra help.

That is because fellow new signing Vanja Dragojevic is also said to have had an impact in the transfer.

How Vanja Dragojevic helped seal Kosta Nedeljkovic to Rangers

Dragojevic and Nedeljkovic both come from the opposing sides of Serbia's fiercest derby.

The fixture between FK Partizan and Red Star Belgrade can be intense and often aggressive on the pitch.

However, it does appear that rivalry has been put to the side, with Dragojevic clearly looking to team up with his fellow national

After Rangers confirmed the arrival of the Aston Villa defender, Sky Sports have added some extra info about the transfer pursuit.

They report that while McInnes held talks with Nedeljkovic, midfielder Dragojevic also spoke with the fullback.

That was amid competition from other clubs this summer window.

With Dujon Sterling's injury issues and Ross McCrorie capable of filling in elsewhere, McInnes will be grateful for Dragojevic's help in getting this move over the line.

Why Nedeljkovic could be set for immediate Rangers test

Rangers have signed Nedeljkovic well in advance of the Wednesday evening deadline to submit their squad for their Conference League qualifier against Jablonec.

This means that McInnes has the option to throw the Serbian straight into the team as he seeks to gain an advantage at Ibrox in the opening leg.

Daisuke Yokota was given the same fate against Jagellonia Bialystok, so it would not be out of character for the Gers manager to do.

McInnes also needs to add James Penrice to the squad list, so changes are expected to be made to the Bears' submitted squad.

Supporters will certainly be anxiously awaiting this fixture, with this the last chance for the Glasgow side to qualify for Europe this season.
