James Penrice immediately made a name for himself at Rangers in his debut.

It was a whirlwind 48 hours for the left-back, who officially signed on loan from AEK Athens on Friday.

With an option to buy included in that, Penrice started on Sunday as the Bears beat St Mirren 5-1 in the Premier Sports Cup.

Derek McInnes was delighted with his new signing, who scored and assisted in his first 90 minutes in blue.

Despite that, Penrice hasn't been included in the squad for Europa Conference League qualifiers against Jablonec.

With Tuur Rommens injured, Rangers don't have a recognised left-back in their squad, yet.

Rangers do not help themselves

Despite being signed before the deadline to announce the squad on the same Friday, Penrice was left out.

McInnes appeared to find his best system yet in the win, playing a 4-3-3 which allowed his full-backs to play as high as possible.

So, thankfully, there is a deadline to make changes to the European squad.

The Rangers Review has reported that Penrice is still likely to be added, despite missing out on the first call.

It's shared that the deadline for a maximum of two changes is late on Wednesday evening.

That means another spot could be open for any new signings, if made.

Derek McInnes must make embarrassment disappear

Rangers are still reeling from the disgusting Europa League exit last week.

Instead, they were once again embarrassing at home with no creativity or passion on show at all.

That is exactly what Penrice promised and delivered in his debut.

Other regulars should be embarrassing that a new signing with one appearance came in and even told the media that he hopes to inspur

It shouldn't take that, but they should be grateful for the left-back.

With now domestic action until next week, two legs against Jablonec are next, and Rangers have no excuses but to win.

Penrice should and will be included, and not only that, he'll start both games as McInnes looks to build up some steam.
