How Rangers beat Celtic to signing Kosta Nedeljkovic as Tuesday medical scheduled
Kosta Nedeljkovic is moving closer to signing for Rangers after an agreement was reached with Aston Villa.
The Serbian right-back is set to join the Ibrox outfit on loan with an obligation to buy as Derek McInnes finally lands a new right-sided fullback.
Plenty of work has been done in the market for the G51 outfit but while work is underway to improve those wide attacking areas, the defensive positions are just as important.
Ross McCrorie was brought in earlier in the window, but he has yet to start a game at right-back, with him capable of playing elsewhere across the backline.
Nedeljkovic would also be linking up with fellow Serb Vanja Dragojevic.
The transfer now looks to be at an advanced stage with details of when the Serbian international is expected in Glasgow emerging.
When is Kosta Nedeljkovic expected in Glasgow?
Nedeljkovic's move to Rangers could be confirmed in the next couple of days.
According to the Daily Mail, the Serbian is set to be in Glasgow for his medical today, Tuesday, 18 August.
Additionally, the report shares that Celtic were keen on the fullback themselves, but the Gers have managed to win that race.
As shared, Rangers are signing the Aston Villa defender on an initial loan, but the deal includes a £3.5million option to buy.
Once the medical is complete, and the results come out clean, the Premier League fullback should then put pen to paper.
With an announcement soon to follow after that.
However, as seen with the saga of Couhaib Driouech, Rangers fans will temper their expectations until an official announcement is made.
Could Nedeljkovic make debut on Thursday?
The fullback may also be available for the Bears' UEFA Conference League qualifer against Jablonec.
As long as the announcement of his arrival is made before Wednesday evening.
James Penrice has not been included in the Gers' upcoming squad, but Rangers can still make changes up until the evening of 19 August.
McInnes has not been shy to chuck his new arrivals straight into the fray, as Daisuke Yokota made an immediate debut against Jagellonia upon signing.
Now, the same could happen with the incoming Aston Villa man, with McInnes finally finding a working formual with his 4-3-3 against St Mirren.
