The five Rangers transfers potentially in the pipeline as update shared from Auchenhowie

Rangers could yet land the five players Andrew Cavenagh is after before the summer transfer window closes.

The Gers chief admitted in this week's AGM that between "three to five" new faces could arrive before the deadline next month.

That was before Youssef Chermiti was struck down with a knee injury that will likely rule him out for the season.

Rangers have already been extremely busy this window, having brought in nine players so far.

The same number have moved on in this latest Rangers squad overhaul.

A number of deals are potentially in the pipeline, with one looking particularly close.

Couhaib Driouech could spark end-of-window transfer spree

Rangers' poor start to Derek McInnes' tenure has only put added pressure on those high up to get the remaining transfers spot on.

In fairness to Cavenagh and Co., they have not shied away from being open and honest.

And it is not like money is not being spent, either, with a further £6.5million looking likely to be spent on PSV full-back Couhaib Driouech.

In an update from the Gers' Auchenhowie training base on Wednesday morning, Sky Sports reporter Gordon Duncan shared an update on the transfer latest.

"Couhaib Driouech - that looks like that one could be imminent for around £6.5m from PSV," he said.

"There are a number of other names mentioned, such as Kosta Nedeljkovic, Hugo Siquet, Jayden Meghoma, as well as James Penrice. There's a lot going on as Rangers assemble this new squad."

While there have been no concrete developments, as such, seeing so many names linked is encouraging.

Will any new players arrive before Rangers' next match?

As pointed out by Duncan, a deal for Driouech is the closest to being struck by Rangers.

Driouech is already in Glasgow to undergo a Rangers medical, although no confirmation has arrived as of Wednesday noon.

As things stand, no new signings will be added to the squad for Thursday's Europa League third-qualifying round second-leg tie with Jagiellonia Bialystok.

But that could well change for Sunday's visit of St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership, with that already as close to must win as you can get at this stage of a season.

While the 2026-27 season may have got off to a bad start, there is still plenty of time for all that to change.
