Rangers: Three centre-backs Derek McInnes could sign after Luke Graham blow
Rangers have a few alternatives they can possibly turn to after missing out on Dundee defender Luke Graham.
The 22-year-old has opted against joining the Gers this summer despite concrete interest from Ibrox.
Derek McInnes has missed out on one of the Scottish Premiership's most promising defenders, but the Light Blues may have other quality names on their shortlist.
Graham would have added much-needed depth to the squad at Ibrox, with John Souttar, Emmanuel Fernandez and summer signing Ben Godfrey the only natural options at centre-back.
The ex-Peterborough United star formed a decent partnership with Nasser Djiga under Danny Rohl, but the Burkina Faso international has returned to Wolves after his loan spell.
As for Souttar, he has clearly been out of form for most of the year, while it remains to be seen whether Godfrey can kickstart his career once again in Govan after a tough spell at Atalanta.
Rangers can turn to Zinedin Smajlovic after Luke Graham snub
With Graham opting to move to Stoke City, there's another 22-year-old defensive prodigy in Europe that the Gers could turn to.
Zinedin Smajlovic has emerged as a target at Ibrox, with the Sandefjord centre-back attracting plenty of attention in the transfer window.
Celtic are also in the race for the Sweden Under-21 international, but the Govan side may now accelerate their move for the defender.
Ibrox shortlist includes another Swedish defender
Rangers have been linked with Casper Widell, who has attracted plenty of attention recently after an impressive season with Excelsior Rotterdam.
The Gers have registered interest in the 23-year-old Sweden youth international, with Derby County and Blackburn Rovers also monitoring his situation.
As things stand, the centre-back has entered the final year of his contract and his situation will be worth keeping an eye on.
Rangers present ambitious deal for new defender
McInnes is now looking at Sankhoun Diawara, with the Troyes defender linked with an exit.
The Light Blues have presented the 20-year-old centre-back with an ambitious offer as they look to convince him to make the switch to Ibrox.
Apart from the Govan side, Basel are also in the race for the French youngster and only time will tell who the Scottish manager will sign to further reinforce his backline.
No matter who it is, it's clear that another defender is heading to Auchenhowie.
