Rangers now want to sign Ryan One - the striker Liverpool have dossier on
Rangers are being linked with a move for Sheffield United centre-forward Ryan One.
The 20-year-old is a highly-rated striker who made his way through the youth ranks at Hamilton Academical.
In 2023, the young attacker then joined the Blades' youth team before breaking into their senior squad.
Having impressed in England, the Ibrox hierarchy now want to bring One back to Scotland.
Chris Wilder has given the Scotland youth international several opportunities in the first-team over the last two years and has been impressed by him.
In January, the forward signed for Lincoln City on loan and scored five goals and provided one assist in the EFL League One outfit's promotion.
What Liverpool thought about Ryan One
Liverpool have been linked with One in the past, with scouts from the Reds keeping an eye on him
Scouts from the Premier League club were impressed by the "powerful" striker after he broke into Sheffield United's squad during the 2024-25 campaign.
According to The Sun in December 2024, Liverpool were compiling a dossier on the Scot and were poised to make a move for him.
According to Ben Jacobs on 16 July, the young striker is now wanted by the Gers, but it remains to be seen whether they can sign him for Derek McInnes.
Why Rangers have encouragement to sign Ryan One
Ibrox News have speculated on McInnes wanting to build the Rangers squad around a Scottish core after relying on the same at Hearts and Kilmarnock.
One could potentially be part of the 55-year-old head coach's future planning at the Gers, with Lawrence Shankland turning 31 in August.
In the young centre-forward, who's the son of former Raith Rover, Alloa Athletic and Stranraer forward Armand One, the Light Blues could have a future star.
During the striker's time at Hamilton Academical, he impressed then manager John Rankin.
Speaking about One in August 2023, Rankin said, "He has gone away and worked on his game. The first season is always difficult but I feel the second season for kids after they made their impact is sometimes more difficult.
"Sometimes they suffer from second season syndrome but Ryan has been great since he came back, he's made a real impact in the first team and you are looking at him now as a real goal threat for us."
The Glaswegian outfit will surely take encouragement from the assessment about the centre-forward and hope he can fulfil his potential at Ibrox.
