Rangers learn Joe Gelhardt outcome after late move as Leeds exit 'very close'
Rangers' desperation for another striker late in the summer transfer window saw them turn focus to Leeds United's Joe Gelhardt.
Youssef Chermiti's devastating ACL injury last weekend, which will keep him out for a significant period of time, has left Derek McInnes short.
With just a few weeks of the window to go, the Gers need to pull out the stops to find a replacement for Chermiti.
Reports emerged on Wednesday that Leeds outcast Gelhardt is on Rangers' radar.
And it now appears a final decision is very close to being made over Gelhardt's future.

Speaking after Leeds' friendly with Manchester United in Dublin on Wednesday, Daniel Farke confirmed Gelhardt is set to leave.
Gelhardt impressed on loan with Hull last season in the Championship, with his 14 goals playing a part in the Tigers' promotion.
And it looks as though Hull are now about to get a deal over the line for the former England Under-20s international, who was once described as an "aggressive" player - in a good way - by then-Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa.
Sky Sports' Zinny Boswell shared via X on Wednesday evening that Gelhardt's permanent move to Hull is "very close".
This is despite the late interest from Rangers, which seemingly came too late in the day with Gelhardt's mind already made up.
On that basis, the big question now is who do Rangers move for instead?
Lack of striker links a concern for Rangers
McInnes' men continue to be linked with numerous players as the transfer deadline moves closer into sight.
In an update shared via Sky Sports on Wednesday, five names in particular were mentioned as being targets for Rangers.
Couhaib Driouech is one of those, with a deal very close for the left-sided attacker.
What Rangers could really do with next after Driouech, though, is a player who is capable of scoring regualrly.
Gelhardt will not be that man, but there are no doubt other options still out there.
