Rangers have chance to watch Pierre Ekwah up close after latest announcement
Rangers could witness Pierre Ekwah play against them during pre-season.
The midfielder was linked with a move to the Gers last summer after becoming the centre of a legal dispute.
In the winter transfer window, the 24-year-old joined Watford on loan until the end of the season, making seven appearances for them in the EFL Championship.
AS Saint-Etienne are now scheduled to travel to Ibrox for a friendly on 22 July and Ekwah may feature against Derek McInnes' team.
The Scottish manager and the Glaswegian outfit's recruitment department could possibly have the chance to scout the French midfielder in person in Govan soon.
There has been plenty of speculation surrounding the former Sunderland ace and it's hard to see him staying at the Ligue 2 club.
Rangers can take advantage of animosity between Pierre Ekwah and Saint-Etienne
Ekwah was embroiled in a legal battle with Saint-Etienne last summer after unilaterally terminating his contract.
The French side signed him permanently after a successful loan spell, but he refused to play for them after their relegation.
After the midfielder's loan spell at Watford, he has returned to the Ligue 2 club's training ground, but it's hard to see him staying.
Saint-Etienne's fans surely wouldn't let him forget what he did last summer if he were to stay, and the Glaswegian outfit have possibly been presented with an opportunity to pursue a move if he plays and impresses them in the upcoming game at Ibrox.
Rangers' pre-season schedule so far
Rangers have already played Raith Rovers in a behind-closed-doors game, with McInnes's side winning 5-1 on the day.
The Gers have changed their plans to go to Austria for a pre-season tour, and the Scottish manager is now set to fly out to Spain with his squad.
Two matches have been scheduled in Spain, but the opponents are yet to be decided, and the Light Blues will then return to Govan to face Saint-Etienne.
On 26 July, the Glaswegian outfit will host West Ham United before McInnes takes charge of his first competitive game since being appointed manager against Dundee United at Tannadice Park in the William Hill Premiership on 31 July.
