Rangers won 5-1 against Raith Rovers in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Saturday.

Lyall Cameron and Tuur Rommens fired the Gers in a 2-0 first-half lead, with Ross McCrorie, Nedim Bajrami and Ryan Naderi all bagging after the break, before Raith netted a late penalty.

Rangers were reportedly without a number of first-team players due to the World Cup with Thelo Aasgaard and Nicolas Raskin still in the competition with Norway and Belgium respectively.

As a result of some absent stars, Derek McInnes had to call up youngsters to his side, with Rydnn McGuire, Paul Nsio and Zander Hutton all starting in the first half, while Calum Adamson came on at half-time.

According to Rangers Review, McInnes and his men will jet out to Spain next week for their pre-season camp.

It's likely that the youngsters utilised against Raith will be aboard the plane due to the World Cup's impact on preparations, and here, Ibrox News shares what fans need to know about them.

Rydnn McGuire, the youngest of the bunch, starts after first-team sale

With new signing Ivor Pandur only just being knocked out of the World Cup with Croatia, and with Jack Butland going the other way and being sold to Hull City, McInnes called on McGuire to start in goals against Raith.

The 17-year-old Scotland Under-19 international is yet to make a senior appearance for the Light Blues, but he was named on the bench twice in each of the Europa League quarter-final legs against Athletic Bilbao in the 2024-25 season.

Danny Rohl also named him on the bench against Hibernian in the 2-1 defeat at Ibrox in May.

It's clear there's a plan to have him more integrated with the first team, so fans will no doubt want to see more of him in the coming years.

Nsio, 20, and Hutton, 19, are two of the more well-known youngsters among Rangers fans and they both started against Raith.

Versatile midfielder Nsio spent last season on loan at the Kirkcaldy club, appearing 31 times in all competitions and scoring three goals.

Hutton starred 36 times in total for Hamilton Academical while on loan there last term, while the right-back was also named on the bench for a number of Russell Martin's Champions League qualifier games in the summer.

Rangers' high hopes for Adamson

Finally, 18-year-old Adamson was among the substitutes who came on at half-time.

The central midfielder is also yet to play for the Rangers first team, but played 31 times, scoring three goals and supplying five assists, for Alloa Athletic on loan last season.

The Scotland Under-19 international said last month that his time at Alloa has seen him develop a lot.

As quoted on Rangers' official website, he said: "The loan to Alloa was everything I could have asked for.

“It was the experience I wanted, and I definitely benefited from playing competitive men’s football."

He added: "It was all massively beneficial for me, and I can take that into next season, whether it’s going out on another loan or with the Rangers first team."
