Rangers goalkeeper situation assessed as Rydnn McGuire exit on cards
Rangers are open to letting Rydnn McGuire leave after starting in the 5-1 friendly win against Raith Rovers on Saturday.
The Gers signed Ivor Pandur for £6million from Hull City this summer, with Jack Butland going the other way in a separate deal.
McGuire started in the behind-closed-doors match on 4 July as Derek McInnes looks for a new third-choice keeper at Ibrox after Kieran Wright's departure.
The 17-year-old is highly regarded within the academy setup and has featured heavily for the Scotland Under-19 side in 2026.
As things stand, the young shot-stopper has entered the final year of his contract at the Glaswegian outfit and his situation will be one to watch closely.
Rydnn McGuire contract update emerges at Rangers
McGuire remains in contract talks at Ibrox, with the promising goalkeeper part of McInnes' pre-season plans.
The Gers will travel to Spain after scrapping their plans to go to Austria and the Scottish prospect will travel with the squad.
According to the Rangers Review on 5 June, while the Govan side want to extend McGuire's deal, a loan exit seems likely to aid his development.
The former Hearts boss will need a third-choice goalkeeper to cover in the absence of one of his senior options in Pandur and Kelly, but it remains to be seen who that will be.
Derek McInnes could have in-house solution at Ibrox
Mason Munn replaced McGuire for the second half against Raith Rovers after Rangers led 2-0 going into the break.
The William Hill Championship outfit found a late consolation goal from the penalty spot towards the end of the game with the Northern Irish shot-stopper in goal.
Munn, 20, spent last season on loan at Dunfermline Athletic before being recalled and sent to Scottish League One side Forfar Athletic.
Unless the Glaswegian outfit decide to let both McGuire and the Northern Irishman leave in the coming weeks, one of them could be a part of the senior squad for next season.
