Rydnn McGuire contract: All Rangers fans need to know as talks set
Rangers are trying to tie Rydnn McGuire down to a new contract.
The 17-year-old goalkeeper is one of the most highly-rated talents in the Ibrox ranks.
The Gers have signed Ashton Scally, Kyle Glasgow, Luca Rankin to fresh terms recently, warding off interest in the talented youngsters.
Now, they are looking to do the same with McGuire, with his current deal expiring this summer.
He signed that contract, his first professional deal, in January 2025, and looks set to earn another one.
Ibrox News looks at all Gers fans need to know as talks are lined up to keep McGuire in G51 amid interest from teams south of the border.
Rydnn McGuire set to stay at Rangers
Rangers and McGuire seem to be aligned on the young talent remaining in Govan.
The Rangers Review claimed on Wednesday that the two parties were set for talks.
The Light Blues want to keep the promising shot stopper in their ranks for the long-term future, and avoid him going to a Premier League team.
Has McGuire had senior experience?
McGuire has already had significant experience with the senior side.
He has trained with the first-team often since last October, and went on the mid-season break to Spain in April.
He impressed Danny Rohl in that camp, according to the report, and he was named on the bench for the last two matches of the 2025-26 campaign.
How has McGuire done in the academy?
McGuire has played above his age group on a regular basis and is an imposing figure, standing at 6'5.
He won the Academy Player of the Year award for the season that has just concluded, the first time that a player in his position has ever picked it up.
The 2008-born star will hope to eventually get his chance to impress in the first-team setup at Auchenhowie, but he will find himself behind Jack Butland and Liam Kelly for now.
That will only happen if he signs a new deal, and the terms that the Gers present are acceptable to the young stopper.
It looks encouraging that talks are set to start, but that is only the beginning, both sides need to agree to a deal, and perhaps more importantly, the pathway to the senior side.
