If Vaclav Cerny is trying to put himself in the shop window for Rangers, he's doing an excellent job.

The 28-year-old has been shining with Besiktas since joining the Turkish giants last summer.

Last season saw him bag seven goals and provide eight assists in 34 total appearances.

Meanwhile, Cerny's already started 2026-27 with two goals and one assist from his first five games for Besiktas.

Indeed, it feels like yesterday-yet-forever since the Czech international was starring at Ibrox during his lone 2024-25 campaign in Govan.

But amid significant talk of a potential Rangers return this summer, the winger has just shown exactly why fans are pleading for his signature.

What did Vaclav Cerny do for Besiktas last night?

Rangers are understood to have submitted a £5.1million bid for Cerny earlier this summer, but that approach was rebuffed.

A deal could still be done for him if Gers stump up the cash, however, and it's known Derek McInnes wants at least one winger before the deadline.

With Couhaib Driouech now off the table, Ibrox chiefs could shift their focus back towards Cerny.

They will only be even more tempted to do so when they see what the former Gers star did for Besiktas on Monday evening.

Vincenzo Italiano's side began their new Turkish Super Lig season at home to Eyupspor, and won the game 1-0.

That was thanks to a sumptuous left-footed volley from Cerny after 25 minutes from around 12 yards out.

It was a reminder to everyone back in Glasgow of just how much quality resides in his boots.

So looking back on his 2024-25 campaign with the Bears, just how good were Cerny's numbers?

Why Vaclav Cerny to Rangers transfer has now been deemed a 'no-brainer'

How Cerny destroyed the Scottish Premiership with Rangers

If Cerny was to sign back with Rangers before the window shuts, belief that a title-wining term could still happen would skyrocket around Ibrox.

Cerny isn't just a good player, indeed, his single campaign with Rangers proved that at Scottish Premiership level, he's about as good as they come.

As per FotMob, no right winger took more shots (95), put more shots on target (39) or created more chances (81) than him in 2024-25.

The same can be said for his successful crosses (41) and expected assists (8.41) too.

Meanwhile, he also completed 47 successful dribbles, took 170 touches in the opposition box and won 21 possessions in the final third.

Cerny is an elite, game-winning talent in this league, and one that could take McInnes' attack force to another level.
