Rangers come in with force to nab Kim Min-su as details shared on fee
Rangers are pushing to land the signing of Kim Min-su from Girona.
The Gers are looking to add more options to Derek McInnes' attack, with another winger and a striker eyed.
Youssef Chermiti's injury has left them with little choice but to dive back into the market.
The wide options at Ibrox have been leaving little to be desired, with a need for another fresh face following the arrival of Daisuke Yokota.
Interest in Min-su is not new, but now it appears the Glasgow side are looking to push ahead with a move.
And how much the Bears could sign him for has now emerged amid news of a release clause.
How much is Kim Min-su's Girona release clause?
Rangers could bypass negotiations with Girona entirely to sign Kim Min-su.
And that appears to be what the Catalonia-based side are wanting to happen should an exit be sanctioned.
According to SER CATALUNYA journalist Nil Sola via X on Thursday, Rangers are "coming in with a lot of force" as they look to sign Min-su this window.
He shares that the South Korean has an £8.6million release clause with Girona and that the second-division Spanish side would not negotiate an exit for less than that price.
Sola also shares that "it looks like [Rangers] are going to take" the winger amid interest from Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.
The South Korean would enter the final year of his contract following the end of this transfer window, with his deal expiring in June 2027.
If Rangers stump up the cost of the deal, it would then be up to Min-su as to whether he makes that transfer.
What would Min-su bring to Rangers?
Min-su is a left-sided attacker and would be coming in to compete with Djeidi Gassama.
So, it feels natural to compare how they both got on last season, with the help of Sofascore.
The comparison is fair with Gassama only playing 21 minutes more than the South Korean last league campaign.
In terms of goals, Min-su looks to be more effective scoring six goals to Gassama's three.
However, the Gers winger does trump him in assists with five compared to four.
Gassama also created more big chances (seven) than Min-su (four) and has a higher dribbling success rate (52.3 per cent versus 40.2).
Overall, the current Rangers winger looks to be better on paper, and Gassama has shown glimpses of being a key player under McInnes.
Nonetheless, the differences are not that stark, and that could be ideal if the South Korean is coming in to compete with the Mauritanian.
That competition could take either forward to the next level as they battle for minutes.
