Mohamed Salah's potential move to Besiktas has given Rangers hope to re-sign Vaclav Cerny.

But in recent days the Bears have become more anxious about the transfer dominoes that appear to be consistently changing.

Derek McInnes watched his side draw 1-1 with Dundee United on Friday in the season opener for the Scottish Premiership, as there was one main criticism of the Gers.

It was the lack of creativity on show at Tannadice, with wingers in particular wanted before the window closes.

There have been rumours of a move to bring Cerny back to Ibrox, with the player even said to be keen on the switch.

However, Salah's potential move to Besiktas has taken another twist, with Rangers surely wondering what's next for Cerny.

Ibrox News understands that Rangers had a bid of over £5million rejected by Besiktas for Cerny.

Despite the initial rejection, it was reported that they were confident they could do a deal for £8.5m or less, and were prepared to come back with a second offer.

Salah's proposed move to Besiktas meant that Cerny was due to take a back seat for the Turkish side, which could have made a move to Ibrox even more realistic.

However, according to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, Besiktas have now officially put talks for the former Liverpool man on hold until further notice, despite already having a verbal agreement with the 34-year-old's camp over contractual terms.

This is because another Turkish side, Trabzonspor, are close to hijacking a deal, with a full agreement nearing completion.

Unless Besiktas cause another twist for Salah, it appears unlikely that they will be willing to part ways with Cerny now that their replacement plan is out the window.

But fear not, because Rangers may already know this.

Two options Rangers have instead of Cerny

Rangers are interested in signing Frosinone's Fares Ghedjemis, but are currently locked in an Old Firm battle for the winger.

Martin O'Neill has admitted that Hoops are making good progress to sign the player, but even if that falls through for the Bears, there's one more option they have on their list.

That man is Amario Cozier-Duberry, a player Rangers are said to have been in contact with Brighton for.

The former Arsenal youth star was on loan with Bolton last season in League One, and could cost the 49ers a multi-million-pound fee, if all else fails.

As for Cerny, that appears to be getting more unrealistic by the day.
