Stephy Mavididi is the latest forward to be added to Rangers' transfer list.

The Bears are looking to add more wide players for Derek McInnes, and the Leicester City winger is admired by the Light Blues.

The Gers already have the likes of Findlay Curtis and Nedim Bajrami at the club, with Mikey Moore also wanted.

However, the transfer interest could suggest that Moore is moving to another European club on loan after all, with Borussia Dortmund said to be keen to land him.

McInnes and the recruitment team won't dwell on possibilities this summer, and will be quick to draw up contingency plans.

Mavididi could be one of them, as Rangers are already in talks to get the deal done.

It will be interesting to see what type of system McInnes deploys at Rangers next season, as a 4-4-2 setup would place different demands on a left-sided midfielder.

It's clear who would be the ideal player to come back to Govan, but Ibrox News has previously reported that Moore could sign for Borussia Dortmund instead of Rangers this summer.

But luckily for the Bears, they may not be scrambling around looking for a different option instead.

According to Mark Hendry, a former journalist for the Scottish Sun and The Herald, Rangers are in talks with Russell Martin's Leicester City for Mavididi.

As reported via Substack on Tuesday, it is understood the Bears have held positive talks with the League One side, as a permanent deal is on the cards.

Rangers are said to be willing to spend up to £7million for the 28-year-old, who has been with the Foxes for the past three seasons.

The former Arsenal youth prospect has played a total of 126 games for Leicester, scoring 23 times and racking up 10 assists.

However, Mavididi's background could outweigh the fact that he plays for a third-tier English side.

Mavididi's history with Cristiano Ronaldo

Mavididi recently suffered relegation to League One with Leicester, as he himself would admit that his performances were below par at the Kingpower Stadium.

That being said, he's already been backed to be a player that McInnes could get the most out of, as his background offers hope.

The former England U21s star was a bright spark in League One with Montpellier not long ago, and even made an appearance for Juventus before making the move to France.

As reported by The Guardian in December of 2020, the former Juventus "B" player used to train with Cristiano Ronaldo, from whom he learned.

Mavididi said: "It was a privilege to even train with him. It’s helped me so much. It’s not even about going up to him and asking him questions. You just watch him and you learn."

That in itself is something for Rangers.
