Rangers want Mikey Moore back at Ibrox after the winger impressed in Scotland last season.

The young forward propelled himself into the favourites of the supporters and admitted he would follow the Gers going forward no matter where he next ended up.

The arrival of Roberto De Zerbi at Tottenham has certainly complicated the Govan-based club's potential advances.

De Zerbi's appointment and his history in trusting youth ran the chance that Moore could end up staying in North London.

It now appears that more clarity on the next step of Moore's career has been provided.

A timeline over a possible return for the Englishman has emerged amid a potential boost in Rangers' pursuit as well.

Tottenham have no plans to sell Mikey Moore but is another loan on the cards?

A permanent deal for Moore was already off the table but the Gers will now be anxiously waiting to see if a loan could be available.

Tottenham journalist Alasdair Gold, via Football London, has now shared the latest on De Zerbi's plans for the Englishman.

The plan for Moore is to start pre-season with Tottenham as De Zerbi wants to get a close-up look at the young talent.

Tottenham begin their pre-season on 10 July, with their preparations going until 15 August where they face Hoffenheim at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

If Moore is given the full extent of pre-season, that would mean if he returns to Rangers, he would miss the opening games of the Scottish Premiership season.

The Scottish season begins on 31 July.

However, another loan is not ruled out, with it being said that if Moore is deemed not ready for Tottenham, De Zerbi would allow a loan if he got regular minutes week in and week out.

That situation wanted from Spurs has been described as receiving the "perfect offer" and after Moore's exploits last season, a return to Ibrox would fit the bill.

It has now given the Gers clarity over a timeline for when a deal could be discussed.

How a lack of European football could shape Moore's immediate future

With Tottenham not having European football, that could play into Rangers' hands.

The Lilywhites are only in three competitions: the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

For a fringe player like Moore, his minutes could ultimately be limited as De Zerbi would have more time to rest his star players heading into each matchweek.

And that scenario has been depicted in the report.

Additionally, Tottenham are still linked with Manchester City's Savinho as per Football London - another potential obstacle in Moore's game time in N17.

So, while a permanent move has once again been deemed unlikely, learning the timeline on when a decision could be reached is a positive for the G51 side.
