Rangers are still in talks with FK Partizan over a deal for midfielder Vanja Dragojevic.

The Gers are hoping to add the Serbs blend of leadership and youth to their ranks with Derek McInnes' eyeing the Scottish Premiership title.

At just 20 years old, Dragojevic is a leader and the Bears have made those types of players a common theme during their transfer business.

A move for the midfielder appeared to be moving closer but a new update out of Serbia has changed the situation.

As Rangers continue in talks for the midfielder and hope to meet a resolution, FK Partizan have seemingly moved the goalposts.

The Gers may now need to pay more than originally expected, as per the latest out of Serbia.

FK Partizan increase Vanja Dragojevic demands - here's what has changed

Rangers originally sent an offer of £3.8million for Dragojevic, which was rejected by Partizan.

It was reported in Serbia that the selling club were holding out for more in add-ons to sanction an exit, with a price around £4.7m mooted.

However, new reports from Serbian outlet Telegraf have changed the landscape.

They report that FK Partizan have rejected a new offer from Rangers. This was a €5m (£4.2m) bid which included bonuses and seven per cent sell-on clause.

However, more interestingly is what the outlet are now reporting that Partizan are seeking.

After previous suggestions that a deal at €5.5m (£4.7m) would get the transfer done, the information shares that they now want €6.5m (£5.5m) fixed.

Additionally, it has been said they want bonuses on top of that fee and a 10 per cent sell-on clause.

It is quite the change from the original expectation.

Why Rangers must be cautious with Dragojevic

If the reports are to be believed, Rangers must begin moving with caution.

While Dragojevic would suit Scottish football, he is still largely young and forking out a higher fee than originally expected would be a risk.

There are certainly plenty of other midfielders on the market that the Gers can turn to.

Hopefully, this is just a negotiating tactic from the Serbs to get their original request of £4.7m after Rangers' latest bid fell below that asking price.

It should certainly be an interesting week ahead for both Rangers and Dragojevic.
