Jens Hjerto-Dahl has agreed personal terms with Rangers ahead of a potential move

The Tromso midfielder has been a long-term target for the Light Blues and it finally looks as though they're close to getting a deal over the line.

It's been yet another busy summer at Ibrox, with Rangers already welcoming six new signings since finishing third in the Scottish Premiership.

Lawrence Shankland, Ross McCrorie, Ben Godfrey, Ivor Pandur, Dan Neil and Cammy Devlin have all signed - and it looks increasingly likely that Hjerto-Dahl will be next.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been in strong form for Tromso so far in the 2026 Norwegian season, scroing six goals and supplying two assists in 13 Eliteserien appearances.

He now looks Rangers bound, though, with Derek McInnes playing what seems to be a huge role in turning the midfielder's head towards Glasgow.

Rangers and Tromso finances revealed as Derek McInnes saves the day

According to GiveMeSport journalist Sam Cohen, McInnes has "fully convinced" Hjerto-Dahl to sign for Rangers instead of rivals clubs this summer.

Ibrox News has previously shared that Cardiff City had made a bid for the Norway Under-21s international, but that was kicked into touch by Tromso, who are now close to agreeing a fee with the Gers.

Cohen claims that with the player's personal terms now sorted, it's a matter of the two clubs reaching an agreement next.

Talks are reportedly ongoing, with Rangers pushing through player sales so they can free up the funds to pay around £6.6million, plus add-ons, for the central midfielder.

How can Rangers sell in order to afford Jens Hjerto-Dahl?

Jack Butland is the only player to leave Ibrox for a fee this summer when he joined Hull City in a £3m deal.

James Tavernier, Ben Davies and Leon King are among the players to have left on free transfers, meaning that while McInnes, Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have been busy signing players, they do need to make some moves in terms of offloading them.

The obvious one that will free up funds instantly for Hjerto-Dahl's arrival would be Nicolas Raskin.

It's been widely reported that he's a wanted man this summer, with Tottenham linked with signing the £20m-plus valued midfielder.

Sell Raskin and Hjerto-Dahl is as good as Rangers'. However, one issue with that is that the World Cup has delayed Raskin's return to Auchenhowie, meaning that there could be a bit of a wait involved when signing Hjerto-Dahl.
