Danny Rohl reveals details of Andrew Cavenagh discussion before dramatic Rangers departure
Danny Rohl has revealed what happened in his final days at Rangers.
The German looked set to lead the Gers into his first full campaign in charge as the transfer window got underway.
Things started in ideal fashion as Lawrence Shankland came through the doors at Ibrox.
Then it all changed as the RB Salzburg job became available when Daniel Beichler was relieved of his duties.
The Govan head coach didn't mess around and ultimately jumped ship for a move to the Austrian Bundesliga.
That didn't stop Rohl from getting preparations underway as dialogue opened between himself and Andrew Cavenagh.
What did Danny Rohl want from Andrew Cavenagh?
There was initial frustrations when the ex-Sheffield Wednesday man made his move away from G51.
That was quickly eradicated when Derek McInnes came in from Hearts to fill the vacant role.
He has got fans dreaming of a Scottish Premiership title charge after so last lifting the trophy back in 2021 under Steven Gerrard.
Rohl clearly had that in mind and was looking to make strides towards it before he moved on.
He has revealed in an interview with the Daily Record what he told Cavenagh and the ownership group to do this summer.
The German said: "It wasn’t just about signing talent, it was about signing a core. I told the ownership, Rangers needed a core.
"Not all of the players they have signed were on my radar but some of the names were, yes. It will be interesting now to see the balance between new players and ones already there."
How Cavenagh has maintained Rohl wish at Rangers
The RB Salzburg boss may be putting forward this idea as his own, but it feels as if it's been continued after his exit.
That is especially true with the likes of Ross McCrorie, Cammy Devlin and Dan Neil coming in.
These aren't the most glamourous of additions, but will certainly help create a solid base for the Gers to build from.
They have been added to by more expensive deals for the likes of Ivor Pandur and Vanja Dragojevic.

All that is proof that Cavenagh and Co. are working to improve the Light Blues and could well be using the advice of Rohl to better the prospects at Ibrox.
