Camilo Mena appears to be on his way to Rangers.

Nearly a month into the new season and Derek McInnes has worryingly failed to find a formula that works.

10 new signings are through the door, yet Rangers are already out of the Europa League and five points behind Celtic.

James Penrice was signing number 10, and thankfully, he inspired Rangers to a 5-1 win over St Mirren on Sunday.

Those were the first green shoots at Ibrox, with yet more transfer business expected before the September 3 deadline.

And now, all eyes are on Mena to fix a real issue.

What's been said in Europe about Mena and Rangers?

Mena has been a target for most of the summer, yet nothing has materialised until now.

Now, a move seems to be closer than ever.

Andrew Gill, a scout for Polish side Hutnik Krakow, has revealed on X that whispers are growing around the country.

He states that he's hearing around Poland that Mena is "very close" to becoming a Rangers player.

It would make sense, given the struggles to sign a winger, or even two, in Govan throughout the summer.

Who could Camilo Mena join at Ibrox?

It's no secret that another two wingers are likely wanted.

Daisuke Yokota has already signed from Hannover 96 and made an immediate impact in blue.

Then, there was the failed attempt to sign Couhaib Driouech from PSV, citing an issue in his medical after a £7m deal was agreed.

So, Mena could be next in line.

It makes more sense now, given that Rangers have seen a £7.5m bid for Brighton's Amario Cozier-Duberry rejected as well.

But, the English winger could be the headline arrival out wide, with Mena also signed for fresh options and competition.

Looking from the outside in, it appears that Mena is closest to making the move to Ibrox as things stand.

With Jablonec in the Conference League play-off up next, and no domestic fixture in between, if signed this week, any new player has the perfect timeframe to settle in at Auchenhowie.

Then, they will be ready to be unleashed, and that could be Mena.
