Andy Halliday shares 'beauty' of Rangers attack amid Lawrence Shankland concern
Andy Halliday isn't concerned about Lawrence Shankland's prospects at Rangers.
The ex-Hearts striker picked up an injury at an unfortunate time, keeping him out until the start of the new year.
Youssef Chermiti is also sidelined at the Govan side, leaving Kevin Kelsy and Ryan Naderi to cement their spot in the team.
Derek McInnes will have plenty of striking options at Ibrox once everyone is fit.
It will be interesting to see whether the Gers' captain can reclaim his place in the starting lineup when he returns from his fitness issue.
What Andy Halliday loves about Rangers attack
Halliday was left impressed by Naderi after the two Old Firm derby victories.
The Czechia international and Kelsy have formed an impressive partnership up top and the former Hansa Rostock striker's work rate is commendable.
Nonetheless, Halliday expects Shankland will still have a massive role to play at Ibrox.
Different games require different tactical approaches, and with the Scotland international arguably the most prolific of the number nine contingent in G51, his qualities will surely come in handy at various points in the season.
"For me, there's no doubt Shankland will still have a place. Before he got his injury, he scored a double against Falkirk, the week before he scored the winner against Aberdeen," Halliday said.
Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard on 5 October, he added, There's going to be games for different players, and I think that's the beauty of Rangers' strike force at this moment in time.
"They're all very different profiles and will suit different games."
What Ryan Naderi breakthrough means for Ibrox transfer plans
Naderi signed for Rangers in January, with the club making a significant investment in him.
Danny Rohl showed a lot of faith in the 23-year-old, but fans weren't convinced by him after last season ended.
With Shankland coming in, a section of the fanbase felt Naderi would be the obvious casualty from the starting lineup.
Despite those concerns, McInnes seems to value the Germany-born striker a lot and he's finally breaking through at the Glaswegian outfit.
The Govan side may now be more willing to listen to offers for the likes of Chermiti and Bojan Miovski, as they certainly have a reliable forward in Naderi.
