Michael Beale sends five-word message after latest Rangers hire
Michael Beale has sent a personal message to Allan McGregor following the former goalkeeper's return to Rangers.
McGregor officially returned to Ibrox on Wednesday as the new goalkeeper coach.
The 44-year-old replaces Sal Bibbo, who recently departed as part of Derek McInnes' backroom shakeup.
Rangers great McGregor played for the Light Blues between 2001 and 2012, before returning for five years in 2018.
He has also previously been part of Barry Ferguson's coaching setup and is now back involved.
Beale, whose tenure in Glasgow is remembered badly, is the latest to congratulate McGregor on his return.
Michael Beale once hailed Allan McGregor a 'legend'
Kemar Roofe and others have hailed McGregor since it was confirmed he is back at Rangers.
Beale, who managed McGregor in the keeper's second Ibrox stint, also sent a heartfelt message.
"Great to see - good luck," Beale posted, with McGregor tagged in the post.
Beale was in charge at Ibrox when McGregor brought down the curtain on his career.
Speaking in July 2013, after Beale's testimonial against Newcastle United, Beale hailed McGregor as a "modern-day legend" at Ibrox.
"He's been fantastic, a highlight reel for the ages if you like," Beale added via BBC Scotland.
"It was lovely for him to get that send off and I want to say thank you to Eddie Howe and his team for coming and playing and all the fans that travelled up from the North-East from Newcastle for the game."
McGregor's arrival continues a familiar theme at Ibrox so far this summer.
McGregor offers qualities beyond the tangible
McGregor has been hired by Rangers to get the most out of the goalkeepers.
That includes Ivor Pandur, who like McGregor played for Hull City.
But beyond that, there is also the small matter of McGregor 'getting Rangers'.
That will hopefully rub off on players, many of whom just have not managed to understand the magnitude of playing for Rangers.
When you factor in others with links to Ibrox coming on board, such as Lawrence Shankland and Derek McInnes, who each supported the Gers, it is clear the club are working hard to put that right.
