Kevin Thomson blown away by 'wonderful' Baredine Bouanani in Rangers vs St Johnstone
Badredine Bouanani continued where he left off for Rangers against St Johnstone on Saturday.
The Algeria international kept his place in the starting lineup after an impressive display at Dundee.
With Kevin Kelsy returning to partner Ryan Naderi up top, Minsu Kim was moved to the left-wing.
With Bouanani and Kim out wide, Derek McInnes' team consistently threatened St Johnstone's backline in the 4-0 win at Ibrox.
The two also played off each other brilliantly, with the South Korea international setting up a massive opportunity for the VfB Stuttgart loanee.
In one moment, the link-up play between the two wingers almost led to an amazing team goal for the Govan side.
Badredine Bouanani and Minsu Kim combine for brilliant Rangers moment vs St Johnstone
Bouanani scored an outrageous goal against Dundee and pulled the creative strings up top yet again.
In the 15th minute at Ibrox, Kim played the Algeria international in behind St Johnstone's defence and a forward took a brilliant touch to set up his shot.
Unfortunately, Bouanani's strike went wide of the post, but the entire sequence of play was admirable.
The 21-year-old forward's technical qualities shone through in that moment, and it blew Kevin Thomson away.
Speaking on BBC commentary, the former Gers midfielder said, "It's brilliant. Great pass initially. These two players that I spoke about in tight areas.
"He actually takes a wonderful wee touch. Great pass initially. Brilliant pass from Kim. That wee touch there is so perfect."
Why Ibrox regular is biggest loser after win vs St Johnstone
Kim and Bouanani gave Rangers a cutting edge in the final third against St Johnstone.
With Kevin Kelsy returning to the starting lineup, McInnes had to make a change up front.
Djeidi Gassama has been a regular starter for the Light Blues this season and has done relatively well for the Scottish manger.
What fans and McInnes have wanted to see from the Mauritania international are better decisions in the final third.
Now with the two summer signings catching the attention of everyone at Ibrox, Gassama may need to fight for his place in the starting lineup.
For the upcoming matches, it would make sense for the ex-Hearts boss to stick with what worked so well today.
