Rangers’ opportunity to re-sign Nasser Djiga all but gone as sale agreement reached at Wolves
Rangers look set to go into next season without Nasser Djiga returning to Ibrox permanently.
Gers signed the centre-back from Wolves last summer on a season-long loan that included no option to buy.
After a shaky start, Djiga’s performances picked up under Danny Rohl, like many other players.
However, the 23-year-old didn’t stay golden long, as he was part of the defence that turned into butter for other attacks to penetrate during the post-split fixtures.
Andrew Cavenagh has stated that it will be a “summer of change” in the weeks and months to come, and that appears to be the case.
That’s because Rangers reportedly informed Wolves they won’t try to re-sign Djiga this summer, and even if they made a U-turn, it now looks extremely unlikely he will come back to Ibrox.

Nasser Djiga’s future comes clear as separate Wolves sale expected
Rangers seem to have made their decision on Djiga, but as we know with the Bears, transfer stories are forever developing and evolving.

Wolves are now officially an EFL Championship side following their Premier League relegation, as head coach Rob Edwards wants to give returning loan players a chance.
According to Express & Star, one player Wolves will not give another chance to is Yerson Mosquera, as the centre-back’s agents have reached an agreement with the club to be sold this summer.
That leaves Edwards another man light in defence, and all the more reason to give Djiga a starting chance at the Molineux Stadium.

One of the main reasons for Rangers snubbing the chance to go for Djiga again may be Wolves’ expected asking price.
Either way, the 49ers may not lose sleep over this one, as it looks all but set that he will play for Wolves or join another side this summer. Just not Rangers.
Who could Rangers sign instead of Djiga?
One player that Rangers will want to keep in defence is Emmanuel Fernandez, who has had an impactful first season at Ibrox, and will be the subject of transfer interest this summer.
The same cannot be said for John Souttar, who will be one of Rohl’s only other senior centre-back options for pre-season.
Dujon Sterling could be an option, but Dundee FC centre-half Luke Graham looks the most likely player to headline Rangers’ backline next season.

It’s been suggested that the Scot would not leave Steven Pressley’s side for a team where he knows he wouldn’t be starting.
It could be Gers’ second transfer after Lawrence Shankland, with plenty more to follow.
