Tom English aims subtle dig at Rangers after Findlay Curtis named in Scotland World Cup squad
Tom English is delighted to see Rangers forward Findlay Curtis get a call-up to Scotland’s World Cup squad on Tuesday.
Steve Clarke’s team announced the 26-man squad for the summer tournament in Canada, Mexico and the USA on 19 May, with the Gers youngster making the list.
The BBC Scotland journalist seems to be taking a subtle dig at the Light Blues by mentioning that Curtis was hardly getting any minutes at Ibrox before moving on loan to Kilmarnock in the winter transfer window.
After the 19-year-old’s heroics for the Killies, he will be joining Liam Kelly and John Souttar on the plane to the World Cup.
Danny Rohl’s reluctance to play Curtis certainly backfired in terms of the Glaswegian outfit’s title hopes, but the move to Rugby Park has clearly done wonders for the young winger.

Findlay Curtis set for dream summer away from Rangers
Speaking on BBC Scottish Football, English said, “Findlay Curtis is in. Amazing. That’s an amazing story. He couldn’t get a game for Rangers not that long ago and goes to Kilmarnock. In terms of profile and in terms of the eyes on him, you think that would be a move that would take him out of the Scotland squad, and not put him in the Scotland squad.
“But with a team that was struggling to stay in the division, he’s fronted up in a very impressive way. He’s scored goals and Steve Clarke has loved that, so fair play to him.”
Curtis made his debut for Scotland in March during a 1-0 loss in an international friendly against Japan.
The forward seems to have Clarke’s eyes after thriving under Neil McCann at Kilmarnock.

One must question why Rohl couldn’t find a place for the Scottish winger in his plans as the Gers pushed for the William Hill Premiership title.
Curtis now has an opportunity to cement his claim at Ibrox further if he can replicate his form at Rugby Park on the world stage.
The youngster’s versatility to play in defence, midfield and attack will undoubtedly have helped his cause in making Clarke’s squad.
Danny Rohl has no excuses after Findlay Curtis debacle
Andreas Skov Olsen effectively replaced Curtis at Rangers in the winter transfer window.
The Denmark international arrived on loan from VfL Wolfsburg with high expectations, but failed to deliver as the Gers slumped out of title contention.

Rohl kept faith in Skov Olsen since his move in January and the German manager’s reliance on the out-of-form forward at times confused many supporters.
It’s fair to say that Curtis could potentially have made a bigger impact at the Govan side than the Wolfsburg loanee this season, but in the end, it has all worked out in the Scottish youngster’s favour.
