Mikey Moore to Rangers on a permanent deal may have once seemed possible, but the 49ers would have to blow most of their summer budget to make it happen.

Andrew Cavenagh and Co. are said to have had talks with Danny Rohl following the 3-1 Old Firm defeat to Celtic on Sunday, with the Gers set to keep him in charge for next season.

The German head coach has been open about how he would welcome Moore’s return from Tottenham, with Spurs currently fighting for Premier League survival.

A transfer this summer hasn’t been ruled out officially, but the 49ers and everyone connected with the Light Blues are aware it would probably have to take a record fee to sign him.

However, the 49ers are planning on a big summer rebuild, as revealed this Tuesday, which suggests finances will be spread out.

49ers set for ‘significant’ summer rebuild

Rohl’s talks with the 49ers about his future went well and even shifted to the focus of the summer window, according to reports.

There were already early suggestions that the former Sheffield Wednesday boss had outlined plans with the Rangers hierarchy behind the scenes, and that looks to be true.

This also suggests that funds will be staggered and spread out for multiple signings, as talks with Tottenham for a permanent transfer would surely have started at £20million, if anything was going to happen.

Unless the 49ers are looking to rebuild a squad on the cheap in most areas to facilitate room to sign the youngster, a permanent stay at Ibrox looks unlikely.

However, with Tottenham now heavy favourites to survive relegation out of them and West Ham, Roberto De Zerbi may sanction Moore’s return to Ibrox on loan.

Nicolas Raskin and Youssef Chermiti are two players who have both been linked with a move away from Ibrox in recent weeks.

Though it’s not clear whether the pair will stay beyond this season or not, it is almost certain that any sale of the duo would each individually be an eight-figure fee.

Talks of selling Raskin for £20m and more have been reported, while Chermiti would only depart for a greater sum than the £10m package deal he was initially bought from Everton for.

If both of these players were to leave, it could give Cavenagh and Co. some major wiggle room to tempt Tottenham into selling Moore, as the Lilywhites may need the profit for financial reasons.

But a permanent move for the left-winger looks unlikely at this stage, especially after the new suggestions of what the 49ers plan to do this summer.
