Rangers: Jim White reacts to Danny Rohl comments, questions if sack will be this week – ‘Wow’

Rangers boss Danny Rohl‘s future is in doubt, with Jim White raising the question as to whether he will even last the week.

The Gers can finish no higher or lower than third place as they prepare to take on Hibernian and Falkirk in their final two matches.

Rangers’ campaign has been nothing short of disastrous, having also fallen short in both domestic cup competitions and the Europa League.

Rohl worked wonders in his early months at Ibrox, but he is the first Gers manager since Dick Advocaat in 2000 to oversee three straight league losses.

And under-fire Rohl‘s comments after Rangers’ loss to Celtic on Sunday caused White to sit up and take notice.

Danny Rohl looking ahead to next season

Speaking at his post-match press conference at Celtic Park on Sunday, Rohl said lessons will be learned and he was looking ahead to next season.

“My group did an outstanding job until the split,” Rohl said. “They took a lot of points, worked really hard, then we came to the most important time and take not the right results.”

“I have to lead my group and I take the responsibility. But there’s a lot of things we’ll take from the split, the consequences, but then we move forward and prepare for the new season.

“We should go from being not good enough to being the best. We have to make a lot of things right.”

The question is, though, whether the German will still be in the dugout for the 2026-27 season.

As harsh as that sounds, Rohl has far too often seen his side come out second best in the games that matter.

Look no further than the past two weeks, with Rangers losing to Motherwell, Hearts and then Celtic.

From title favourites to being unable to finish higher than third in no time at all.

White listened to Rohl’s latest comments on his talkSPORT show on Monday morning and simply replied: “Wow”.

He then went on to add: “One wonders how long Rohl will stay in that position, or if he’ll go before the end of the season.”

Given the season ends later this week, that would be a major call from the owners to make.

Martin Keown says what’s happening at Rangers is ‘unacceptable’

Martin Keown, speaking on the same talkSPORT show, said he can fully understand why Gers fans are not happy.

“That type of performance, and to lose three games in a row, is unacceptable for Rangers supporters,” he said.

One of the big issues Rohl faces is that Steven Gerrard is still out there awaiting a return to management.

While Gerrard returning to Ibrox would anger some, given the manner of his previous exit, he would be a good appointment.

Beyond that, the options seem limited. One way or another, Rohl will be desperate to get the summer to put more of his own spin on things.

But defeat to Hibs in midweek would turn the screw further, let alone another loss to Falkirk to conclude the campaign.
