Danny Rohl fully backed at Rangers, loss vs Celtic doesn’t affect Ibrox future

Danny Rohl will remain in charge of Rangers next season regardless of what happens against Celtic on Sunday.

That’s according to Scottish journalist Scott Burns, who believes a negative result at Parkhead on 10 May won’t have a bearing on the German manager’s future.

Rohl’s future at Ibrox has come under scrutiny in recent weeks, with many fans and pundits wondering whether he’s the right person to lead them in the upcoming campaign.

The 37-year-old head coach has seen the Gers’ chances of winning the William Hill Premiership slip after losing back-to-back games against Hearts and Motherwell.

Andrew Cavenagh seems to be fully behind Rohl and it will be interesting to see how the Glaswegian outfit support him in terms of recruitment in the summer.

Danny Rohl has curried enough favour at Rangers

Writing in the Daily Record on 9 May, when asked whether defeat in the Old Firm derby would doom Rohl, Burns said, “No, my understanding is that regardless of what happens, Danny Rohl is expected to be the Rangers manager next season.”

When Russell Martin left his role as the Gers manager, no one would have thought of them being in contention to win the league come May.

The former Sheffield Wednesday boss has undoubtedly brought stability and technical nous to Ibrox, going on a 15-game unbeaten run in the William Hill Premiership.

Rohl’s record at the Gers this season

Regardless of what some fans in G51 think, Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have clearly seen something from the German manager to determine that he will eventually succeed at the Glaswegian outfit.

The Govan side has a massive transfer window coming up, but before that, Rohl should focus on ending the season on a high note to ease some tension within the fanbase heading into the summer.

Danny Rohl commits future at Ibrox

Rohl has been linked with the VfL Wolfsburg job recently, but the German manager is fully focused on bringing success back to Rangers.

The former Owls boss wants to win silverware in G51 and many would argue he has already built the foundation to do so at the Gers.

What has been missing at the Light Blues this season is the ability to get over the final hurdle, but Rohl would certainly have learned from his mistakes and should fix them going forward.

The relatively young head coach has been thrown into the deep end in Glasgow and it remains to be seen whether he can find the light to guide the Govan side back to the top.
