Jens Berthel Askou to Rangers given nod as Danny Rohl not good enough
Jens Berthel Askou should be a contender for the Rangers job after what he has done at Motherwell.
That’s what Gordon Dalziel believes, who wants to see the Old Firm clubs try and get the Danish manager from Fir Park ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Danny Rohl has come under extreme pressure at Ibrox after back-to-back losses to Hearts and Motherwell have effectively ended the Gers’ hope of winning the William Hill Premiership title.
Celtic have been linked with Berthel Askou as they look for a permanent manager to possibly replace Martin O’Neill.
Andrew Cavenagh is looking to back Rohl in the summer with additional squad reinforcements, but the American owners in Govan have been urged to look at other options to take charge of the Light Blues.

Rangers to be tempted by Jens Berthel Askou
Speaking on Open Goal on 7 May, Si Ferry said, “Yeah [I would get rid of Rohl]. We’ve not seen any sort of development,” and Dalziel responded, “If I was Rangers or Celtic, I would go to Fir Park and bring that manager.”
Berthel Askou has been one of the best managers in the Scottish top flight this season, making Motherwell play scintillating, dominant football.
While the Steelmen’s form has been patchy of late, they’ve proven to be a tough nut to crack for Rohl whenever he has faced them.

The Danish head coach got the better of the former Sheffield Wednesday boss at Ibrox in the first post-split fixture, denting the Govan side’s title hopes.
Considering the excellent work Berthel Askou has done at Motherwell, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him at one of the two Glaswegian outfits sooner rather than later.

Elijah Just and Tawanda Maswanhise have been exceptional for Motherwell this season and they are the sort of players Rangers should be looking at in the summer.
If Berthel Askou were to be appointed at the Gers by some miracle, they would surely have an upper hand in reuniting him with some of his key players from Firm Park.
Fans in G51 are starting to wonder whether Rohl has taken the Light Blues as far as he can after failing to get over the final hurdle in the league title race.
The German manager certainly has a lot on the line against Celtic at Parkhead on 10 May and another loss will undoubtedly leave the 37-year-old head coach in dire straits.
