Andreas Skov Olsen told he needs move to Denmark after latest Rangers failure
Andreas Skov Olsen has been touted with a move back to Denmark after his dismal stint at Rangers.
The Dane was signed in the winter transfer window with the hope that he could be the difference maker in the Scottish Premiership title race.
However, that has not been the case, and he has notched one goal and three assists in the league for Danny Rohl‘s side.
He was drafted into the starting line-up for the 2-1 loss to Hearts but failed to have the desired impact, looking entirely uninterested on the right-flank.
Rangers simply can’t activate the £8.6million buy option that they have, he has not been good enough in his time with the club.
🚨 RANGERS TRANSFER UPDATE 🚨
The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.
What was said about Skov Olsen’s Rangers future?
Rangers has been the latest club in a long line of transfer struggles for Skov Olsen, as he has never really hit the levels expected of him in Govan.
His showing against the Tynecastle outfit has seen Derek Clark back the Ibrox flop to head back to his homeland to revive his career.
Speaking on Rangers Review‘s Wednesday Morning Briefing show, he said: “Skov Olsen, for a start, he doesn’t look fit enough, but I think it’s more of a head thing with him.
“I think mentally, he looks like he’s not interested in something that I think he needs to sort out.

“It’s not just Rangers that he’s had a poor time, Wolfsburg, he’s been a flop, Italy never quite done it. And ever since he left Club Brugge, I think his career’s been on a downward trend.
“So it might be a case of him going back to his homeland perhaps and just trying to enjoy football again, because it doesn’t look like he’s doing that at this point in time.”
Where has it gone wrong for Skov Olsen?
It is all gone wrong for Skov Olsen, as the level of expectation was too high for him to handle when he came through the door.
He was expected to create chances and score goals that would put the Gers in a position to take the title from Hearts and Celtic, but he has not been able to do that.
| Skov Olsen’s stats for Rangers | Scottish Premiership |
| Appearances | 9 |
| Goals/Assists | 1/3 |
| Shots on target per game | 0.4 |
| Key passes | 1.4 |
| Cross accuracy | 23% |
He also faces low blocks and tighter spaces in Scotland, when he usually thrives in transition and likes space to run into and make things happen.
He looks a yard off the pace of the game, and his confidence has been shattered by the weight of playing for the Gers.
It was a gamble from the Light Blues and the player, given his failings with Bologna and Wolfsburg and it is safe to say that it has not paid off for either party.
They will surely say goodbye in the summer, and never cross paths again after that, as Clark suggests he may well benefit from a move back to his home nation.
