Frank McAvennie names Nicolas Raskin as Rangers player he wants at Celtic
Frank McAvennie has shown appreciation for Rangers star Nicolas Raskin.
The Belgian has been in brilliant form since Danny Rohl was appointed, playing a key role in the Gers’ chase towards the Scottish Premiership title.
He has made 33 appearances under the German boss in all competitions, with five goals and five assists in those matches.
McAvennie, who won the league with the Parkhead side in the 1987-88 season, named the 25-year-old as the Light Blues star that he would want at Celtic.
Rangers fans will want to hold on to Raskin for as long as possible, and there is little chance that he ends up with their Glasgow rivals.

What did McAvennie say about Rangers star Raskin
Raskin may leave Rangers in the future, but it will not be to join Martin O’Neill’s men, given the rivalry between the clubs.
However, McAvennie waxed lyrical about the midfielder, claiming that he really likes him and wishes he was in Celtic’s team, even though his former team’s supporters dislike him.

Speaking on the Let Me Be Frank Podcast on 13 April, he said: ”I know the Celtic supporters don’t like him, but I really do like Raskin, I wish he were in our team.
“He’s solid. He keeps the ball. A bit like Callum (McGregor) used to do. He gets himself forward, but he always seems to be there. I thought he controlled the game against Falkirk, we need somebody like that in our team, he’s a bit like Scott Brown, really.
“He annoys people. Really annoys opposing teams, players, and the supporters.”
Why Celtic fans may agree with McAvennie shortly
Raskin can be the difference maker in the title race for Rohl’s side.
He has played 31 matches in the league this season, with five goals and seven assists to his name, per Sofascore.
The former Standard Liege man is averaging 1.5 shots per game, 1.4 key passes and boasts a passing accuracy of 86 per cent.

| Shots per game | 1.5 |
| Key passes per game | 1.4 |
| Tackles per game | 2.5 |
| Ball recoveries per game | 4.7 |
He is not afraid to get involved defensively, with 2.5 tackles per game, 4.7 balls recovered per game, and 1.9 clearances per game.
Raskin can hold himself well when it comes to duels too, winning 55 per cent on the ground and 53 per cent in the air.
Hoops fans may well agree with McAvennie at the end of the season, if the 11-cap international keeps up his form and fires the G51 side to the championship.
At the very least, surely they will appreciate his talent, and admit that he is top-quality when it comes to Scottish football.
If not, then Gers fans will just appreciate him and be glad that he is theirs, rather than playing in green and white.
