Danny Rohl handed transfer reality check as new Rangers bid tabled for late agreement
Rangers are pushing to add the final pieces to their squad ahead of the transfer deadline.
Many now have Danny Rohl’s side as favourites for the Scottish Premiership, with Rangers’ 3-0 win over Dundee putting them four points behind Hearts.
With six days left before the deadline on 2 February, Rangers have made their move to sign Hansa Rostock striker Ryan Naderi.
That could be the final signing of the window, with exits still on the cards at Ibrox.
Rangers push to seal final striker transfer
As Rangers look for cheaper deals to add the final pieces to their squad, like Naderi, Rohl has been told that he may need to scale back before the deadline.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, football finance expert Dan Plumley admits that it is more likely for bigger fees to be spent in the summer.
“We always said that the January window is quieter and that is certainly the case in Scotland,” Plumley said.
“There’s never been a lot of money spent in January, and if there is, it tends to be Celtic or Rangers.
“I think you’re still in this phase of looking at what Danny Rohl wants to do moving forward.
“We know he’s been very vocal about wanting new signings and investment in the squad, but to be honest, now is not the time to do that.

“I know there is an immediate picture on the league in the here and now, but you do tend to find in January that the values of deals are much lower, and that would chime with that.
“I think they will be looking at the summer soon with bigger plans in place moving forward, and it’s unlikely we’ll see big money in this final week.”
Scottish Premiership title race heats up
Rangers fans would have laughed if you said they’d still be in the title race after Russell Martin was sacked for his disastrous start to the season.
Rohl has transformed everything at Ibrox and is picking up wins, even when the Bears aren’t playing well, which is a true sign of champions.

With trips to Hibernian and Motherwell to come in their next three Scottish Premiership games, it will be a huge test of their title credentials.
Let’s hope the new signings can make their mark early, including Naderi, if he is signed before Monday.
