Andrew Cavenagh to kickstart January with blockbuster £6m deal after Rangers latest
Andrew Cavenagh doesn’t seem fazed by the prospect of investing heavily at Rangers in the winter transfer window.
The American ownership ended the summer with a net spend of £20million, as the Gers signed 12 players for Russell Martin.
However, the former Southampton boss was eventually shown the door, and Kevin Thelwell also lost his job at Ibrox towards the end of November after most of his additions to the squad failed to live up to expectations.
After the disappointment of the recent recruitment, Cavenagh is expected to back Danny Rohl, with significant activity expected in G51.
Rangers to make statement with Jens Hjerto-Dahl transfer
Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl is a major priority for Rohl, but the Gers will have to spend big to sign him.
It’s been claimed that the Norway Under-21 international could cost around £6m in January, with keen eyes on him from Ibrox.
The 20-year-old is one of the most prominent prospects in Eliteserien, and Cavenagh could potentially kickstart another recruitment spree at the Light Blues with his arrival.
BBC journalist Tom English expects a busy window in Govan, and has been told that the Glaswegian outfit have plans to go again, with apparently a realisation among the hierarchy that previous signings haven’t worked out.

With the German manager looking to add a number six to the squad, Hjerto-Dahl seems to be the perfect first signing for the new era under the 36-year-old head coach.
Ibrox appointment points towards Jens Hjerto-Dahl signing
Cavenagh has hired Stig Inge Bjornebye on a consultancy basis for six months, with the former Rosenborg sporting director having an input during the winter transfer window.
The ex-Norway international’s connections in his home country may come in handy as Rangers look to sign Hjerto-Dahl.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Light Blues get a deal over the line for the young midfielder sooner rather than later.
Exciting times lie ahead in G51, as the Gers move closer to Celtic and Hearts in the William Hill Premiership.
