James Tavernier exit from Rangers sealed after what’s happened at Ibrox

James Tavernier could potentially be counting down his days at Rangers.

The 34-year-old will be a free agent next summer as things stand after spending over a decade at the Gers.

It doesn’t look like Tavernier will be offered a new contract at Ibrox, but it remains to be seen how the situation develops in the coming months.

Danny Rohl has brought the best out of Max Aarons in recent weeks, and the defender, who’s on loan from Bournemouth, is also someone the Glaswegian outfit have to make a massive decision on, but that may not matter when it comes to Tavernier’s future.

Dujon Sterling returns in fine fashion for Rangers

Dujon Sterling was impressive against Hibernian in the William Hill Premiership on 15 December as the Gers won 1-0.

Tavernier was benched at Ibrox, with the 26-year-old starting his first game of the season after a lengthy injury lay-off.

Sterling has rarely played for the Light Blues since April, but fans will now hope he’s over his fitness issues in G51.

The former Chelsea ace undoubtedly has the potential to become a key member of the starting lineup at the Glaswegian outfit if he can stay fit consistently.

While Tavernier has scored some crucial goals for the Gers this season, his legs seem to have given way, as evidenced in recent matches.

The captain has been a loyal servant for the Light Blues, but his exit could potentially be sealed after Sterling’s return to action.

Danny Rohl surely eyeing new transfer in addition to striker and centre-back

Jayden Meghoma has stood out at Ibrox as one of the few summer signings who’ve lived up to expectations.

It can be argued that most of Kevin Thelwell’s 12 signings at Rangers have failed, and a new striker and centre-back should be on the agenda in the winter transfer window.

A right-wing-back may also be needed at the Glaswegian outfit, with Aarons failing to replicate what Meghoma has been able to do on the left.

While the Bournemouth ace has done well of late, a specialist wing-back may further improve the Gers’ performances, with Rohl recently emphasising a back-three.
