Nedim Bajrami may have saved himself from January exit at Rangers after latest developments

Nedim Bajrami may have rescued his Rangers career in recent weeks after a complete turnaround in fortunes.

In the early days of Danny Rohl’s time at the club, Bajrami was heavily linked with a Rangers exit as he struggled for minutes under the German.

However, the Albanian was slowly integrated back into the starting lineup and even scored a 98th-minute equaliser from the penalty spot as the Gers drew 2-2 with Dundee United on 3 December.

Bajrami is currently out of action after being forced off during Rangers’ 3-0 win over Kilmarnock, but the performances he put in before his injury may have convinced Rohl to keep him around.

Why Danny Rohl is prepared to give Nedim Bajrami more time

Bajrami didn’t even make the squad for Rohl’s first five games in charge, with the former Sheffield Wednesday boss preferring the likes of Oliver Antman and Djeidi Gassama in wide areas.

Before his injury though, the 26-year-old winger started three straight games for the Bears, forcing himself back into Rohl’s plans.

According to Rangers Review journalist Chris Jack, Bajrami’s recent form may have saved him from a month of uncertainty during the January transfer window.

Rohl has clearly changed his mind regarding the Albania international and has seen something within the attacker that he wants to build on.

Danny Rohl set for a busy January window

Rangers had an abysmal start to the season, and much of the blame was placed on the recruitment over the summer.

The likes of Youssef Chermiti and Joe Rothwell were brought in with huge expectations, but have completely failed to perform.

Russell Martin, Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart have all suffered the consequences of the summer transfer window, and now Rangers have the opportunity to start afresh in the new year.

With the Gers still in with a faint chance of the Scottish Premiership title, Rohl will be desperate to offload the underperforming players from his squad and replace them with real quality.

However, it remains to be seen whether the German will be properly backed in January, and if Rangers have addressed their recruitment issues since the summer.
