Danny Rohl speaks out on his own Rangers position after brutal Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart exits
Danny Rohl says he has the full backing of Rangers’ owners following the double sacking of Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart this week.
Rangers announced the shock exits of Thelwell and Stewart on Monday, with Andrew Cavenagh now beginning the search for their replacements.
Thelwell had been under pressure at Ibrox pretty much ever since arriving in the summer due to a number of questionable decisions.
However, the double sacking still came as a surprise when it was announced, with Rangers now having to pay out millions to Thelwell and Stewart.
Rohl spoke to reporters on Wednesday ahead of Rangers‘ Europa League clash with Braga on Thursday and shared his thoughts on the decision.
Danny Rohl has full support of 49ers
Rangers getting rid of Stewart and Thelwell is ultimately a positive and shows that Paraag Marathe and Cavenagh are not afraid to make big calls.
Rohl has made a positive start to life as Rangers manager and, speaking to reporters, shared that he has been given the full support of the 49ers in wake of Stewart and Thelwell’s exits.
“Our focus is on the upcoming game, and always has been,” Rohl said. “The importance is how we work; having good communication with Andrew and the other members is what we have in the upcoming months.
“Due to the changes, I have a lot of support from the board, my family and people within the 49ers group.”

Rohl went on to add that Rangers already have half an eye on the January transfer window, but his immediate priority is on improving the players he has available to him.
Rangers get injury boost ahead of Braga clash
Youssef Chermiti was spotted back in Rangers training on Wednesday, while forgotten man Rabbi Matondo was also at Auchenhowie.
While Rangers’ European campaign appears to be as good as over already, Rohl will not want to write off the remaining fixtures.
A victory over high-flying Braga on Thursday would help to build some momentum, which is building nicely in terms of the league form.
Sunday’s clash with Falkirk at Ibrox is the top priority for the week, but fingers crossed for a better display on the European stage this week than supporters have become accustomed to for far too long now.
