Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart react to Rangers sackings as whirlwind news confirmed

Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart had no idea that they were getting the sack by Rangers.

On Monday, Rangers decided to pull the trigger on Thelwell and Stewart after it was revealed that fan anger had caused Andrew Cavenagh to make the decision, among other reasons.

There have been protests outside of Ibrox this season, with many Rangers fans directing their rage at the pair.

Danny Rohl has got off to a great start at Rangers since coming in, so the news came as a little bit of a surprise to everyone.

Nevertheless, Thelwell and Stewart appeared to have started the week none the wiser.

Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart had the ‘microscope’ on them

Many Rangers fans will have been delighted with the news, but also confused at the timing of the bombshell.

There are exciting times ahead, however, and the 49ers are ramping up the process to find replacements in the coming days.

When Rohl was unveiled as Gers’ boss, Cavenagh insisted that Thelwell and Stewart had his full backing.

In the Scottish Daily Mail’s print edition on Tuesday, journalist John McGarry revealed that the duo were stumped at the sudden decision, and that Rohl may have played a part.

McGarry said: “It’s understood that neither man saw their sackings coming. Cavenagh had evidently turned the microscope on them both the minute that Rohl had accepted his offer.

“The German’s report on his early findings is hardly likely to have painted a complimentary picture of the workings behind the scenes.”

Now, everything has worked out almost perfectly in the end for Rangers fans.

Thelwell and Stewart will struggle for another job

Rangers fans have had to endure months of failed promises and disastrous decisions off the field.

Thelwell and Stewart were both a patronising pair that Gers fans could see straight through, and even though it was unexpected at this time, they still deserved the sack.

It would be incredible if either of them were lucky enough to find another club that was silly enough to trust them in running the operations of their side.

The data they have provided is truly remarkable, but for all the wrong reasons.

Rangers fans can rejoice and look forward to an exciting new chapter in Glasgow with the pair in the past.
