Simon Jordan has blasted the Rangers board and argues it is their actions that are responsible for the reaction of fans at Ibrox.

Jordan, speaking live on talkSPORT on Monday morning (13 January, 11:23am), leapt to the defence of the Gers supporters - many of whom staged a protest during Sunday's (12 January) win over St Johnstone.

Supporter action has arrived in the wake of Patrick Stewart's recent comments, in which he has publicly backed Philippe Clement in what has been described as a "cop-out" from the CEO.

"Football clubs are unique businesses, and the lifeblood of them are fans. If they're not being disruptive, in the same way other fanbases have in the past, there's nothing wrong," Jordan argued.

"When fans were booing players taking the knee, I felt if you didn't like something, don't get involved, don't be disruptive. In this instance, they're saying we don't accept the way this club is being run.

"We've seen the level of incompetence from some of them. I don't have a massive problem with it. I don't like it, but I think it might concentrate peoples' minds."

Rangers fans split over Ibrox fan action v St Johnstone

Rangers supporters were clearly not all reading off the same page when the protests were occurring inside Ibrox on Sunday.

Some Gers fans booed their own as they took action - much of it during the 55th minute when the Union Bears staged a walkout from the stands, which happened to coincide with St Johnstone's consolation goal in the 3-1 Light Blues win.

A victory over the bottom side, however, is not going to change many minds of those insistent that Clement is not the right man to lead the team forward, neither certain members of the board who fans feel are holding the club back.

Rangers acknowledged at their December AGM many of their wrongdoings regarding hierarchical action, the team itself and transfer market activity, to which many fans and shareholders were responsive and willing to give the club the time of day.

Form on the pitch has been largely indifferent since - without the Old Firm win over Celtic on 2 January, the mood would be several shades gloomier than it is even now.
