Mikey Moore’s agent speaks out amid lack of game time at Rangers

Mikey Moore’s agent has been speaking about his client’s need for further minutes following his loan move to Rangers.

Rangers signed Moore on loan from Tottenham in the summer, with the winger initially struggling to adapt to life in Scotland.

After Rangers sacked Russell Martin, however, the England youth international looked to have found his feet under new coach Danny Rohl.

The talent scored his first goal for the Gers against Dundee FC before the international break, with fans beginning to understand the excitement surrounding the teenager.

But in a latest blow to Rohl, Rangers could be without Moore until the end of December, with the forward picking up an injury on international duty.

Mikey Moore ‘needs to play’

Moore looked to be finally shining at Rangers after Rohl arrived, with the winger hoping to tie down a regular place in the German’s starting team.

Under Martin, the 18-year-old had been used sporadically, starting just three Scottish Premiership games before the former Southampton manager was sacked.

But under Rohl, Moore looked to have finally proved his worth. The youngster was handed two starts in a week, and seriously impressed against Dundee FC.

Presumably against the winger’s wishes, however, the German has still been hesitant to hand the forward more than around 65 minutes in the Scottish Premiership.

Any plans to do so have now been scuppered, with Moore among several players ruled out for the foreseeable.

Speaking to The Telegraph on Sunday, Moore’s agent, Marlon Fleischmann, spoke about the winger’s development.

“Mikey is at the stage of his career where he needs minutes and he needs to play,” he said. “It was the same with Andros (Townsend) and Harry (Kane) when they went on loan.

“They both had the characters to cope with going on loan and playing in demanding environments such as Millwall. Mikey is very similar in that respect. Tottenham were understanding.

“Johan Lange (Tottenham’s co-sporting director) and Andy Scoulding (performance manager) have both been excellent.

“It is far too early to say what will happen next season, but Mikey has to keep playing now, just as Andros and Harry did.”

Moore confident about Rangers future

Speaking after scoring his first Rangers goal, against Dundee FC, Moore spoke about the start to his time at Ibrox.

“I’m feeling a lot more confident, I’m getting used to the league, used to my teammates and the manager has helped me a lot as well,” the talent said.

“He’s come in and he’s given me confidence and belief in myself which has been good from him, so I’m excited to keep going.”

Moore’s injury will serve as a significant blow to that confidence, but the new year should promise increased opportunities for the youngster amid further fixture congestion.
