Rangers have major Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski issue after what’s just been said

Rangers may have made a mistake by signing Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski permanently in the summer transfer window.

Daily Record journalist Graeme Young believes the two strikers being bought for significant transfer fees is a “major issue” in G51.

Kevin Thelwell had his fingerprint all over Chermiti, with the sporting director’s judgement now coming into question after spending £8million on the former Everton centre-forward.

While Miovski seemed like a sensible buy at Ibrox after his impressive spell at Aberdeen, his struggles from last season at Girona have continued at the Glaswegian outfit.

Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski not cut out for Rangers

Chermiti and Miovski look like loan signings at the Gers, Young says.

The journalist hints that the Portuguese youngster and North Macedonia international may not be good enough to last at Ibrox beyond this season.

It will be interesting to see how the Glaswegian outfit proceed with their recruitment in the upcoming transfer windows, with another rebuild on the cards.

Speaking on Game On on 14 November, Young said: “I think Chermiti and Miovski being permanent signings is a major issue. They look like loan signings, both of them. I know they got a lot of loan signings.”

Ibrox News understands Chermiti is of interest to Braga and other clubs in Europe, and it will be interesting to see whether the Gers will opt to cut their losses on him.

The 21-year-old had a torrid time with injuries at Everton, but he can’t expect to be afforded time in G51 due to his price tag.

Kevin Thelwell to learn from mistakes after Danny Rohl admission

There have been doubts over whether Andrew Cavenagh will give Thelwell more money after underwhelming recruitment at the Glaswegian outfit in the summer.

The sporting director was responsible for signing off on 12 new players, and it’s safe to say most of them haven’t worked out, but it looks like the former Everton chief will now be much more sensible at Ibrox, with the final input from Danny Rohl.

In Thelwell’s latest interview at Rangers on 15 November, he said: “It’s important as a sporting director that you don’t bring players that the head coach doesn’t want to sign off on, so it very much is about us working together with, in this instance, Danny having a final say.”

It felt like Russell Martin was forced to accept whoever the sporting director signed at the Light Blues, and fans will hope that isn’t the case under Rohl.
