Danny Rohl brutally drops Youssef Chermiti in latest shift as Rangers teams news drops vs Dundee

Danny Rohl has named his starting line-up for Sunday’s Scottish Premiership clash with Dundee at Dens Park.

Rangers lost 2-0 to Roma on Thursday in the Europa League and will now look to avoid making it three consecutive losses across all competitions.

The Gers looked to have bounced back under the German, but losses to Celtic and Roma have brought back the cold feeling around Ibrox.

Rangers have not lost to Dundee since 2017, however, and will hope to extend that record on Sunday.

Defeat to Dundee would leave any slim Rangers’ title hopes in tatters, though, with Hearts enjoying a 14-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Danny Rohl makes four changes in attacking switch

Derek Cornelius picked up a knock before the Roma clash on Thursday, but the defender returns to the starting line-up against Dundee.

It is an attacking eleven from Rohl, who has elected to drop Youssef Chermiti, after the striker failed to impress against Celtic or Roma.

In his place comes Bojan Miovski, with the German switching to a back-four. Mikey Moore retains his place in the team, while Danilo and Djeidi Gassama continue in attack.

In midfield, Connor Barron has been dropped in place of Mohamed Diomande, and Max Aarons returns to the bench along with Nasser Djiga.

It is an intriguing tactical switch from Rohl, who looks to be after more attacking threat from his team, after just one goal from the last two fixtures.

Rangers may well defend in a three, with Gassama filling in on the right of midfield, although the Gers will undoubtedly go forward in a four-three-three.

Three points crucial for Rangers

Before the season, a person claiming that Rangers would be 14 points off the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the start of November would have been laughed out of the room.

But that reality has come to fruition. Given the form of Hearts, the Gers are desperately close to being out of contention completely within the next months.

Rohl has made a good start at turning that form around, but there is plenty more work to do.

Victory at Dundee will be key to that, with Rangers looking to continue their unbeaten run away from home in the Scottish Premiership this season.
