‘I’ve spoken to a few people’ – Alan Brazil reveals what he’s been told about Danny Rohl after Rangers win

Consecutive league victories for Rangers have observers coming around to the club’s prospects under Danny Rohl already.

Russell Martin’s miserable reign was brought to an end after just 17 games at the beginning of the month and he was eventually replaced by the German.

Steven Gerrard turned down a return to Ibrox and Rangers failed to bring in Kevin Muscat before handing the reins to Rohl, but he finally has things looking tentatively up.

A dismal defeat to Brann in Europe in his first game has been followed by a 3-1 win over Kilmarnock at the weekend and Rangers’ 1-0 triumph at Hibs on Wednesday, tripling the number of league wins in the process.

Danilo’s early winner secured Rangers the points and Alan Brazil believes the Gers might be back under Rohl.

Rangers reviving under Danny Rohl after Hibs win

Jack Butland still had to save a late penalty at Easter Road to preserve the win but ex-Celtic man Brazil has been assured the Light Blues are in safe hands with the former Sheffield Wednesday boss.

During a discussion live on talkSPORT Gabby Agbonlahor pointed to Rohl’s recent results, saying: “Look at the way it’s going at the moment. I mean Rangers, that’s back-to-back wins isn’t it?”

Brazil replied: “Yeah this fella might be alright you know. I don’t know how much restriction he’s got in terms of money, but I think Danny Rohl will be okay.

“He looks fresh, he looks as if he knows what he’s doing. I’ve spoken to a few people that say he does know what he’s doing, so I think it’ll be interesting.”

A long way to go but Hearts and Celtic leave door open

Rohl and his players can’t get overexcited after just a pair of victories but it is a measure of how bad things have been this term that such a short sequence is a major improvement.

Climbing to third in the Scottish Premiership may suggest some order is being restored at Ibrox but the gap to the top two remains significant.

Runaway leaders Hearts dropped points for only the second time this season with a 2-2 draw at St. Mirren on Wednesday, and Brendan Rodgers’ exit at Celtic hands Rangers an opportunity they should have been much better prepared to take.

The Hoops’ 4-0 thrashing of Falkirk suggested they might be righting the ship themselves but Rohl has his first Old Firm derby coming up on Sunday in the League Cup semi final where he needs to lay down an early marker.
