Rangers ‘astonishingly arrogant’ after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer development at Ibrox
Rangers could potentially leave fans fuming by appointing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their new manager.
Russell Martin was sacked after the Falkirk draw, and the Gers have wasted most of the international break looking for the ideal candidate to replace him.
Paul Scholes hinted at Solskjaer holding talks for the Ibrox vacancy, with several candidates being heavily linked with the Light Blues in recent days.
While the Norwegian head coach has managed at Manchester United, the Glaswegian outfit may have a bit of prejudice currently.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hard sell at Rangers
Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe may struggle to convince fans that Solskjaer is the right manager for the Gers, Keith Jackson says.
The Daily Record journalist has slammed the Light Blues for seemingly holding those who have managed down south in high regard over head coaches in Scotland.
Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart have been accused of favouring those who have been part of English football, with the recruitment strategy in the summer seeing eight players arrive at Ibrox from the Premier League and EFL Championship.
Speaking on Hotline Live on 14 October, Jackson said: “What I would say is that would really be another hard sell, would it not? I know he’s a name, but he’s also damaged goods.”

“And it comes back to this thing, what they get accused of, people like Thelwell and Stewart is this sort of mentality that if you’ve been around English football for any length of time, no matter how badly it might have went, it makes you better qualified to take on the Rangers job than anyone that might be over on the north side of the border. Which is an astonishingly arrogant position to adopt in the first instance.”
Kevin Muscat seems like the leading candidate to replace Martin, but it remains to be seen whether that will happen.
Ibrox hierarchy willing to write off season after Kevin Muscat development
Neil McCann is being tipped to take interim charge at Ibrox, as Muscat may be looking to stay at Shanghai Port until 22 November to finish the Chinese Super League campaign.
Rangers have some key games against Brann, Celtic and Roma coming up over the next few weeks, and losing those will leave them in a difficult position.
Competition | Next match | Position |
William Hill Premiership | Dundee United on 18 October | 8th |
Europa League | Brann on 23 October | 32nd |
Premier Sports Cup | Celtic on 2 November | Semi-final |
It looks like the Gers’ hierarchy are happy to write off the season as they risk disappointment in the William Hill Premiership, Premier Sports Cup and Europa League before Muscat’s possible arrival.
Things don’t look encouraging for the Glaswegian outfit right now, and fans will hope Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises can soon see sense and appoint someone before the Dundee United match on 18 October.
