Keith Jackson calls out misinformation about Kevin Muscat in Rangers compensation claim

Rangers may not have an easy time convincing Kevin Muscat to become the next manager at Ibrox.

Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe were snubbed by Steven Gerrard, leaving the Gers back at square one in their search for a new head coach.

Russell Martin’s tenure at Ibrox ended in 123 days, with the disastrous spell leaving the Light Blues eighth in the William Hill Premiership.

The Glaswegian outfit are now taking their time to fill the vacancy in the dugout, and it remains to be seen who the American ownership will bring to G51.

Rangers will have to pay large compensation as Kevin Muscat still has time contract

Muscat still has a year left on his contract at Shanghai Port, Keith Jackson says.

The Daily Record journalist called out some of the information being misreported about the 52-year-old head coach, with his potential arrival at the Light Blues arguably requiring a “fairly large compensation fee”.

It will be interesting to see who Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises will hand the reins to, as they undoubtedly can’t afford another failure like Martin.

Speaking on Hotline Live on 13 October, Jackson said: “Something that’s being misreported in terms of Muscat is, yeah, the Chinese season ends in a few weeks from now, but he’s got another year on his contract. So if Rangers were to make a move there that would obviously involve a fairly large compensation fee.”

Danny Rohl seems to be the frontrunner at Ibrox, but not many fans may be convinced about the former Sheffield Wednesday manager.

With Martin now out the door, the US consortium risk facing fury from supporters in G51 if the next appointment doesn’t go to plan.

Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe under pressure at Ibrox

Cavenagh and Marathe are under massive pressure at Ibrox, with the American owners’ initial months since their takeover an obvious disaster.

While the US consortium spent a significant sum at Rangers in the summer, it can be argued that the likes of Kevin Thelwell overseeing recruitment have failed miserably.

Martin’s managerial record at the Gers

It appears the new owners still hold the sporting director’s opinion in high regard, given that most managers linked with the Ibrox job were part of the summer shortlist.

With things still looking confused in G51, Cavenagh and Marathe have left themselves open to significant criticism.
