Steven Gerrard will be licking his lips at what Mikey Moore’s just done away from Rangers
Mikey Moore is yet to find his feet at Rangers, despite the huge amount of hype surrounding the youngster.
Rangers signed Moore on loan from Tottenham in the summer, in a move that saw the Gers fend off the interest of several clubs.
But in 10 appearances under Russell Martin, the 18-year-old has provided just one assist and has failed to impress the Ibrox faithful.
However, Rangers sacked Martin last week, and are now on the hunt for a new man in the dugout.
Steven Gerrard has emerged as Rangers’ first choice, and a deal that would see the Englishman return to Ibrox for the first time in six years looks to be getting closer.

Mikey Moore scores 20-minute hat-trick for England Under-19s
Tottenham have no immediate plans to recall Moore from Rangers, despite the winger’s early struggles in Scotland.
And fans will be happy to hear that, with some excitement building about what the youngster could do under new management.
Moore enjoyed his breakthrough campaign for Tottenham last season, netting his first senior goal in the Europa League.
The winger is very highly rated at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but has not, so far, been able to demonstrate that talent during his time at Rangers.
It is undoubtedly still there, however, and the youngster’s performance on Saturday proved as much.
Moore scored a 20-minute hat-trick for England Under-19s as they beat Belgium 4-1, in what would have been a hugely encouraging day for the winger.
Moore set to hit the ground running under new Rangers boss
Ryan Kent famously starred under Gerrard at Rangers, scoring 13 goals and providing 14 assists across all competitions in the 2020-21 season.
The winger was deployed mainly off the left, and shares some traits with Moore. If the next Rangers boss is to be Gerrard, the 45-year-old will hope to have a similar effect on the youngster.
Ryan Kent | Under Steven Gerrard | Rangers – not under Steven Gerrard |
Appearances | 138 | 80 |
Goals | 28 | 5 |
Assists | 32 | 24 |
G/A per 90 | 0.43 | 0.36 |
And if the Tottenham product is already hoping to have caught his future manager’s eye, he would have succeeded with Saturday’s showing.
Moore will be ready to hit the ground running, and for the new man, whoever it is, that can only be a positive.
