Andrew Cavenagh ‘surprised’ as true feelings about Steven Gerrard’s Rangers return emerge
Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh’s true feelings on appointing Steven Gerrard have been revealed.
Gerrard is the prime candidate for the vacant role at Rangers, after Russell Martin was finally sacked last week after a dismal start to his spell in the dugout.
Gerrard was missing from the Liverpool legends clash with Chelsea on 11 October, perhaps due to the ongoing talks with the Gers.
The Gers supporters want him to come back, but what do the 49ers Enterprises group and Cavenagh truly think about the potential second stint for the Liverpudlian?

Rangers board’s feelings on Steven Gerrard return revealed
Rangers are still looking at alternatives than Gerrard, but it feels like he is in pole position for the role.
A report from Sun Sport on 11 October claims that the Gers’ board has been surprised by the support for the return of the 45-year-old.
It states that Cavenagh and Co. believe that the sentiment around his comeback is much stronger than when they appointed Martin in June.

Gerrard’s original spell with the Gers was fantastic, as shown by the Sofascore graphic above.
Gerrard return is surely the answer for Rangers
Surely the board cannot afford to go in another direction, given the fact that the majority of supporters want Gerrard back.
The appointment of Martin and the following scenes over the past few months has led to a frosty relationship between the hierarchy and the fans.
- The fans did not want Martin to be appointed in the first place
- He won just one of seven league matches in a horrendous start
- He was sacked after just 17 games in charge of the Govan outfit
They need to recover that rapidly, and there is no better way to do that than giving them what they want, Gerrard back in the dugout.
The 49ers group and Cavenagh need to get supporters back on side, and have everyone pulling in the same direction to make the Bears as successful as possible.
The former Liverpool star has already shown that he understands Scottish football, and would bring back the standards that have been missing at Auchenhowie in recent years.
It seems like a no-brainer for the majority ownership, if they are to get the club back on track.
