Andrew Cavenagh ‘moving at speed’ as Steven Gerrard alternatives interviewed
Rangers are approaching the one-week point in which Russell Martin was finally sacked as manager.
After weeks of speculation, Rangers parted company with Martin last Sunday with the Gers eighth in the Scottish Premiership.
Steven Gerrard swiftly emerged as the favourite to succeed Martin, with a couple of rounds of talks being held this week.
However, while Gerrard remains the overwhelming favourite to take charge at Ibrox, Rangers are leaving no stone unturned.

Steven Gerrard seemingly not only option for Rangers
Gerrard returning to Rangers for a second spell is not straightforward, mainly due to a tax issue that needs to be overcome.
The Englishman is also said to be seeking clarity over the structure behind the scenes at Ibrox these days, given it has changed massively since his previous stint in charge.
Talks are still ongoing between Gerrard, Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe, but The Telegraph reports via its print edition on Saturday that “alternative candidates” are also being interviewed.
Danny Rohl is thought to be one of those Rangers have talked to about the top job at Ibrox.

The same report adds that Cavenagh and Marathe are “moving at speed” with regards to making a new appointment, but Gerrard still needs convincing that the job is right.
If not Gerrard, then who else for Rangers?
As mentioned, former Sheffield Wednesday boss Rohl is widely considered to be next on the list if Gerrard does not want the job.

Beyond those two, names such as Kieran McKenna, Kevin Muscat, Stephen Robinson and Slaven Bilic have been mentioned.
Rangers fans want to see Gerrard back in the Ibrox dugout, but nobody knows exactly how these talks are panning out.
Cavenagh and Marathe can only do so much, and if Gerrard does not want to return, Rohl seems like a smart second choice.
One way or another, time is now ticking down for that appointment to be made.
